Mechanical department is responsible for holding of huge number of Coaches, Wagons, EMU/MEMU, BD cranes as well as ART, SPARMV,SPART,SPARME etc. These rolling stocks are being timely offered to Operating department for smooth running of South Eastern Railway. Apart from this, this department is having a major workshop at Kharagpur for POH of all types of Rolling stock including Diesel, Electric locomotives and EMUs/MEMUs. ROH depot at Bokaro, Bondamunda, Nimpura and Tatanagar are also under Mechanical department as well as many coaching depots are having in this department viz. Santragachi, Ranchi, Tatanagar where long and short distance Mail/Exp./Pass trains are being maintained. One newly introduced Vande Bharat Express (HWH-PUI) is also being maintained at SRC Chg depot. There is a small workshop in this department i.e. WRD at Adra for NPOH of wagons. All these enormous activities are being executed smoothly under guidance of ______________, Pr. Chief Mechanical Engineer of Mechanical department who is being assisted by Sri D. S. Kunwar, CAO/Project, Sri S. P. Singh, CWE, Sri. P.Sharma, CRSE(Frt.), Sri B. K. Rath, CME/Plg, Md. A. Alam, CRSE(Chg), Sri U. Halder, CEnHM, Sri R. Prasad, CMPE, Sri R. P. Bain, CWM/KGPW, Sri B. Topno, Dir/MDZTI/KGP as well as other divisional officers.
