1.History:-
Ranchi Division with its headquarter at Ranchi (Hatia) started functioning w.e.f. 01.04.2003 in terms of Railway
Board’s notification no.- 98/E & R/7001/Notification dated 04.07.2002. It was carved out of the existing Adra and
Chakradharpur Divisions of South Eastern Railway and covers areas in the state of Jharkhand and West Bengal.
2.Special Features:
Ranchi Division is spread over in 396.02 route kilometers in Jharkhand covering 07 districts i.e. Ranchi,
Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, Saraikela Kharsawan, Ramgarh and 45.92 route kilometers in Purulia
District of West Bengal.
