SER BHARAT SCOUTS & GUIDES RENDERS YEOMAN SERVICE BY PROVIDING FOOD AND RATIONS TO NEEDY COMMUNITY PEOPLE
Kolkata, 26th July’ 2020:
During lockdowns in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, South Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides is playing a crucial role in services to the needy and poor community people. The activities of SER Bharat Scouts & Guides are spread over all the four Divisions of South Eastern Railway viz. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur, Ranchi along with other units.
Ever since the lockdown was imposed due to Novel Coronavirus, South Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides have altogether distributed 1,03,926 cooked meals with variety of items in veg and non-veg and 3, 21, 884 dry ration packets comprising of rice, pulses, spices, onions, potatoes, soyabeans, garlic, edible oil etc. to the helpless and needy community people in the vicinity of railway areas all over South Eastern Railway. The badly affected people are mainly daily wage workers, rickshaw pullers, coolies and their families and also slum dwellers, beggars, vagabonds etc. During this crisis period, Rangers, Rovers and other young Scouts & Guides of SER have been assisting the downtrodden and poorer sections of the society.
Apart from these, SER Bharat Scouts & Guides have produced and distributed 30,508 face masks amongst the helpless and poor people to contain the spread of COVID-19. SER Scouters have conducted many mass awareness campaigns wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing amongst the surrounding community people. SER Bharat Scouts & Scouts have also arranged Blood Donation Camps for the needy and serious patients of the community. These have been done to uplift the morale of the poorer sections of the people.
SER employees and their wards who have gone through such Scouting movement will surely prove themselves as more effective and balanced citizens.
