SER’s ELABORATE ARRANGEMENTS FOR BETTER
CROWD MANAGEMENT DURING PUJA RUSH
Kolkata, 4th October, 2019:
South Eastern Railway has taken elaborate measures for better crowd management at its important terminal stations like Howrah New Complex, Shalimar and Santragachi as well as important suburban stations to tackle the heavy rush of passengers during Durga Puja.
S E Railway has taken the following important measures to ensure safety, security and smooth movement of the passengers during the Puja rush:-
·Additional RPF personnel have been deployed at important stations in Howrah-Kharagpur section to ensure security of passengers. Extra security personnel have been deployed also at other important stations like Shalimar, Digha, Jhargram, Tamluk etc.
·Additional staff of Engineering and Signal &Telecommunication Departments along with security personnel have been deployed at important Level Crossing Gates in Howarh- Kharagpur, Kharagpur-Midnapur and Panskura-Haldia sections.
·Public Address System has been arranged at important and busy Level Crossing Gates to alert passengers about train movements.
·Adequate lighting arrangements have been made at stations and at major level crossing gates for the convenience of rail and road users.
·Officers have been deployed on Emergency Duty at Howrah Station New Complex, Santragachi and Kharagpur stations to ensure smooth running of trains.
·Inspectors have also been deployed in various sections of Kharagpur Division to attend any disruption of train service on priority.
·Measures have been taken for frequent and timely announcement of arrival/departure of trains with platform numbers.
·“May I Help You” booths will be kept operational at important stations where RPF Personnel and TTEs will be available for proper assistance and guidance of the passengers.
·Medical Teams will be available at Kharagpur and Santragachi stations on call. Ambulance with paramedical team will also be available.
·St. John Ambulance Team, Civil Defence Personnel and Members of Bharat Scouts & Guides will also be available at major stations.
·Steps have been taken to ensure scheduled departure of Mail/Express/Passenger Trains.
·Steps have also been taken to ensure no change of platform at the last moment.
Moreover, to cope up with the Puja rush, the newly constructed Foot Over Bridge at Santragachi will remain open for passenger movement from platform No 4 & 5 to platform No 6 (Kona Expressway end). This will be the third exit point of Platform No 4 and 5.
Travelling public is requested to cooperate with railway by observing the following rules in rendering better services:
·Do Not Use Single Use Plastic
·Always Use Dustbins kept in Stations and onboard trains
·Travel with Light Luggage
·Do Not Carry Inflammable Articles
·Do Not touch any object lying on the railway premises
·Do Not take any eatable from unknown passengers
·Please Call 182 for Security Assistance on board trains
·Always carry Identity Card during journey
·Do Not lean outside the coaches when trains are on run
·Do Not pull Alarm Chain un-necessarily.
