FINANCIAL COMMISSIONER INAUGURATES AUDIOVESTIBULOMETRY UNIT & COCHLEAR IMPLANT PROJECT AT SER CENTRAL HOSPITAL UNDER CSR FUND FOR HEARING IMPAIRED TREATMENT

Sri Vijay Kumar, Financial Commissioner (Railways) & Managing Director, Indian Railway Finance Corporation inaugurated the newly constructed Audiovestibulometry Unit & Cochlear Implant Project for treatment of inborn hearing impaired babies at SER Central Hospital, Garden Reach on 30.08.2019. Sri Anupam Sharma, Additional General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Sri Prashanta Mishra, Principal Financial Advisor, South Eastern Railway, Dr. R K Pani, Principal Chief Medical Director, Dr. Rupa Mitra, Medical Director, Principal Head of the Departments and Doctors of the Hospital attended the Programme.
Cochlear Implant programme in the Department of ENT in South Eastern Railway Central Hospital has received a significant upgradation in the form of newly constructed state of the art fully equipped Audiovestibulometry Unit along with sound treated audiometry room, consisting of various instruments with assistance from CSR fund of Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC), New Delhi. This type of advanced Audiovestibulometry Unit is the first in Indian Railways and is one of the best set-ups.
Under guidance of Financial Commissioner, Railways, IRFC has also provided SER Central Hospital, Garden Reach with 25 numbers of Cochlear Implants for needy patients at a cost of Rs. 1.37 crore for upgradation of ongoing Cochlear Implant Project in the Hospital.
Sri Vijay Kumar, while speaking in the programme, said that CSR fund has been utilised in the Central Hospital, Garden Reach to help the babies suffering from deafness as a socially sensitive and responsible organisation. With the assistance of Indian Railways Financial Corporation and from the fund of CSR, this project will benefit innumerable railway children.
This is functioning under able team of Doctors in S E Railway Central Hospital led byENT Surgeon, Dr. K P Verma.
Later, Sri Vijay Kumar, Financial Commissioner (Rlys) held a high level meeting at South Eastern Railway Headquarters with the Principal Financial Advisors of South Eastern, Eastern & Metro Railways including KMRCL (Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited) and other Sr. Accounts Officers to review the financial performance of the Railways. Sri Anupam Sharma, Additional General Manager, SER and all PHODs also attended the meeting.
