SER REALISES AS FINE OF RS 26700 FROM SPECIAL DRIVE
Kolkata, 3rd August 2019:
Railway Protection Force of South Eastern Railway Conducted a 7weeklong Special drive with effect from 25.07.19 to 31.07.19 against transgenders in the entire jurisdiction of South Eastern Railway spreading over West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand for extortion and harassment of the passengers during their train journey.
During the drives a sum of Rs. 26,700 was realised from 66 persons who were arrested by RPF Personnel from four Divisions i.e Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi.
Frequent complaints were received from various sections of the passengers about harassment by transgenders who often boarded the trains and extorted money from the travelling passengers. The complaints were also received that the transgenders frequently harassed the passengers who also had to face abuses if not agreed to pay money, they demanded. Some cases were also found that passengers were ashamed by the behavior of transgenders.
Railway Protection Force of South Eastern Railway have been conducting this kind of Special Drives to provide the confidence and comfort of the passengers so that they may undertake journey hassle free.
