Kolkata, Aug.16, 2017 :

            Sri S.N.Agrawal, General Manager, South Eastern Railway initiated Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat – Swachhta Pakhwada at S E Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach, this morning(16.8.2017) as a part of making Clean India o­n and from 16thAugust to 31st August, 2017.  The programme was chalked out with Nukkad(drama), Prabhat Pheri, Cleaning of North and South Colony including SER’s HQs etc.

            At the outset, General Manager administered the Swachhta pledge amongst all staff and officers of S E Railway HQs.  Sri Agrawal, in a short address said that officers and staff of SER’s HQs have taken pledge to make railways clean.  General Manager also said that this Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat Mission would improve sanitation facilities for all travelling public and rail users.  He also laid top most priority o­n cleanliness of railway surroundings as a greater part of clean India which is a noble idea and continuous process.  General Manager along with officers and staff, Bharat Scouts and Guides, RPF personnel undertook a long walk around North and South Colonies, HQs offices to spread awareness about cleanliness.  Two Nukkads (Street Drama) was organized in front of BNR Officers’ Club and new Administrative Building of South Eastern Railway Hd.Qrs. which carried the messege of more cleaner and greener  railway premises.

            A large gathering of railway men, principal officers of various departments joined this cleanliness venture. As many as 500 staff, officers, RPF personnel, SE Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides, Sports personnel along with their family members took part in this cleanliness drive to spread awareness about all round cleanliness of railway premises. South Eastern Railway has printed huge colourful posters, banners, leaflets which have been displayed and put up at prominent areas to involve the people for motivation of this cleanliness drive.

            This Swachhta Pakhwada, Cleanliness fortnight Campaign is being organized at four Divisions i.e. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi of South Eastern Railway with active participation of large gathering of railway men and their families.  Railway Platforms, Trains, Booking and Parcel Offices, Carriage and Wagon Maintenance Depots, Loco Sheds, Railway Colonies etc. are being brought under this massive cleanliness campaign.  Day-to-day cleaning of trains, railway premises, debates, sit and draw competition, nukkad, involvement of social organizations, public representatives, professional expert of cleanliness agencies are being organized to reach out to the people in a larger scale for greater success of overall cleanliness. The whole programme was organized by Sri J.K.Saha, Chief Mechanical Engineer, South Eastern Railway.
