GENERAL MANAGER FELICITATES TWO SER EMPLOYEES

FOR AVERTING MAJOR ACCIDENTS

Kolkata, 17th July 2017:

Shri S N Agrawal, General Manager, South Eastern Railway felicitated and awarded two S E Railway employees of Operating Department at a Weekly Punctuality & Freight Operations Meeting  held at this railway’s headquarters, Garden Reach this afternoon (17.7.2017). The felicitated employees are Shri Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Sr. Goods Guard, Tatanagar of Chakradharpur Division and Shri Thakurdas Chatterjee, Pointsman-A, Chandrakona Road of Adra Division who have averted major accidents. 

Shri Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Sr.Goods Guard, Tatanagar of Chakradharpur Division o­n 14.6.2017 during his duty in a goods train which was passing through Lotapahar Station, detected a hot axle at the time of exchanging all right signal o­n curve and stopped the train at Lotapahar Station. The affected wagon, 8th from Brake Van was detached from train. By virtue of alertness and devotion to duty, Shri Singh prevented a major mishap and saved the railway assets.

Shri Thakurdas Chatterjee, Pointsman-A, Chandrakona Road of Adra Division while o­n duty o­n 21.02.17 noticed smoke emitting from Axle Box of o­ne of the wagons of train. Shri Chatterjee immediately stopped the train and during examination he found a hot axle in wagon 39th from the engine. He at o­nce informed the concerned authority and o­n duty Carriage & Wagon Supervisor detached the said wagon from the rake. Due to his prompt action, watchfulness and devotion to duty a serious accident was averted.
