WORK FOR DIGHA (CHANDANESWAR) – JALESWAR NEW LINE

TO START SOON

15th March, 2024

With the initiative of Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the construction work for Digha (Chandaneswar) – Jaleswar New Line project (42 Kms) of Kharagpur Division will be done o­n fast track. This will enhance connectivity between the coastal areas of Digha with Jaleswar o­n main Line in Howrah – Chennai route.

This was a long pending demand of local residents of Baleshwar district. After completion, this project will be immensely beneficial for the students, daily commuters, businessmen, patients etc. of Chandaneswar area as well as Bhograi and Jaleswar Hinterland. The connectivity will also boost tourism for Chandaneswar Temple, Bhusandeswar Temple, Talsari-Udaypur Beach, Bichitrapur  Mangrove Sanctuary etc.

The Jaleswar-Chandaneswar line will connect famous Shaivapiths of Baleshwar district with Jaleswar station

This rail connectivity will provide an alternate route between Howrah to Bhadrak Via Panskura, Tamluk, Digha and Jaleswar avoiding the busy section of Howrah-Chennai HDN route

The line will provide direct and shortest connectivity for tourists to Chandaneswar, a very popular tourist destination and also a few other important nearby places

Promote regional socio-economic upliftment :  Connectivity & transport needs of Fisheries and aquaculture & local agricultural produce

The project will also enhance port connectivity

In addition to this Final Location Survey has also been sanctioned by Railway Board for construction of new line betweenAngul - Nayagarh Town via Narsinghpur, Kantilo and Khandapada and a Chord line between  Khurda Town - Kaipadar Road (120 km)
