SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY OBSERVING SWACHHATA PAKHWADA

from 16th September to 2nd October- 2023

Kolkata, 27thSeptember, 2023:

South Eastern Railway is observing “Swachhata Pakhwada –Swachhata Hi Seva” from 16th September to 2nd October, 2023. Intensive Cleanliness Drives have been undertaken at Headquarters and four divisions of South Eastern Railway viz. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi. Several events have also been organised over SER jurisdiction in connection with Swachhata Pakhwada.

This year, Swachhata Pakhwada is being observed with a view to bring about visible improvement in the level of cleanliness at various Railway establishments and in trains. Special attention will be given to clean track approaches to major railway stations, solid waste management including ban of plastic and water use efficiency.

Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, initiated the Swachhata Pakhwada by administering Swachhata Pledge to officers and staff at SER Headaquarters, Garden Reach o­n 15.09.2023. South Eastern Railway employees took oath to maintain cleanliness at workplace and keep India as a neat and clean country. South Eastern Railway observed Swachhata Pakhwada o­n the difference themes i.e Swachh Saptaah and Swachh Jagrukta, Swachh Samwad, Swachh Stations, Swachh Railgaadi, Swachh Patri, Swachh Karyalaya, Swachh Colonies & Parisar, Swachh Ahar, Swachh Neer, Swachh Waterbodies and Park etc. All four divisions of SER has organized intensive cleaning drive of railway track, station premises, trains etc. Special emphasis has been given o­n cleanliness of Railway colonies, office buildings, adjacent areas, waterbodies and parks. To provide hygienic food and water to the passengers, Pantry cars, Catering units, Water treatment plans, Filters etc were thoroughly checked and cleaned.

A Webinar was arranged at SER Headquarters o­n “Harmful effects of Single use Plastic & Plastic Waste Management (Zero plastic use)” and “Alternative Conventional Energy Project and its use & Water stress Management (save water) in Climate Change Scenario” o­n 19.09.2023. A Drawing competition of Railway employees and their wards was organized at Garden Reach o­n the theme of “Water Conservation” o­n 20.09.2023. An Essay Competition was also arranged o­n the topic of “Importance & Awareness o­n Swachhata” o­n 22.09.2023. Tree plantation, Awareness campaigns, Prabhat Pheri, Shramdaan, Nukkad Nataks etc. were also organized over SER jurisdiction in connection with the Swachhata Pakhwada.
