BARIPADA STATION OF KHARAGPUR DIVISION TO BE REDEVELOPED
UNDER AMRIT BHARAT STATION SCHEME
ESTIMATED COST : Rs 17 CRORES

Ministry of Railways has formulated a policy for modernization of stations named “Amrit Bharat Station” scheme. The scheme will breathe new life into travel hubs and enhance the overall passenger experience. Amrit Bharat Station scheme envisages development of stations on a continuous basis with a long term vision.Under this scheme, altogether 69 stations of South Eastern Railway have been selected and to be redeveloped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Baripada is one of the major stations in Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway. The city of Baripada is said to be one of the important centers of trade and economy of Odisha. Baripada is also the cultural centre of north Odisha. In recent years, it has emerged as an educational hub with the opening of numerous professional colleges. Baripada is also a popular tourist destination with Simlipal Nature Camp, Debakunda Waterfalls, lake at Bhimkunda and some ancient temples. With an initiative to recount and preserve glorious history of Mayurbhanj kingdom, South Eastern Railway has constructed a heritage museum at Baripada Railway Station. The Master Plan for redevelopment of Baripada Station has been proposed with an estimated cost of Rs. 17 crores.
The new Station Building will be built in iconic contemporary style and will be developed with segregated Arrival & Departure provisions with integration of both sides of the city. Station plaza will include adequate Parking facilities and Multi-Modal Integration enabling smooth traffic flows. Spacious Concourse with world-class facilities and passenger amenities will be constructed along with spaces for retail, cafeterias, recreational facilities, comfortable waiting areas, executive lounges, business meeting areas etc. The station will be equipped with better passenger information system, signage and digital displays for all kind of travel related information. The station will have Foot Overbridges, lifts and Escalators for comfort of passengers. The station will provide all kinds of Divyang friendly facilities, free Wi-fi, fire fighting arrangements, “One Station one Product” kiosks to promote local products etc.
The redevelopment of Baripada Railway Station will ensure top notch passenger amenities and boost the tourism for the state of Odisha.
