GHATSILA STATION OF KHARAGPUR DIVISION TO BE REDEVELOPED
UNDER AMRIT BHARAT STATION SCHEME
ESTIMATED COST : Rs 31 CRORES

Indian Railways is moving ahead at a rapid pace in the direction of modernisation towards realising Prime Minister's vision of a new India. Under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme launched by the Govt of India, more than 1309 railway stations across the country are being redeveloped with state-of-the-art facilities. Altogether 69 stations of South Eastern Railway across its four divisions in the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha have been earmarked for redevelopment under this scheme.
Ghatsila is one of the major stations in Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway. The Master Plan for redevelopment of GhatsilaStation has been proposed with an estimated cost of Rs. 31 crores. The station is on the Howrah- Mumbai main line and well connected to important stations. Close to the industrial city of Jamshedpur, Ghatsila is also a popular tourist destination. This city is located in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and is situated by the gorgeous Suvarnarekha river bank. Throughout the town, there are many waterfalls and creek. Phuldungri Hills, Burudih Dam, Dharagiri Waterfalls, Narwa Forest, residence of famous writer Shri Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay etc. are the major attractions of Ghatsila.
The new Station Building will be built in iconic contemporary style and will be developed with segregated Arrival & Departure provisions with integration of both sides of the city. Station plaza will include adequate Parking facilities and Multi-Modal Integration enabling smooth traffic flows. Spacious Concourse with world-class facilities and passenger amenities will be constructed along with spaces for retail, cafeterias, recreational facilities, comfortable waiting areas, executive lounges, business meeting areas etc. The station will be equipped with better passenger information system, signage and digital displays for all kind of travel related information. The station will have Foot Overbridges, lifts and Escalators for comfort of passengers. The station will provide all kinds of Divyang friendly facilities, free Wi-fi, fire fighting arrangements, “One Station one Product” kiosks to promote local products etc.
The redevelopment of Ghatsila Railway Station will enhance Rail-transport infrastructure and boost the tourism for the state of Jharkhand.
