PRIME MINISTER VISITS THE SITE OF DERAILMENT
RESTORATION WORK IN PROGRESS

 

Kolkata, 3rdJune, 2023: 

Train no. 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Coromandal Express and Train no. 12864 Sir M Visvesvaraya-Howrah Superfast Express got derailed near Bahanaga Bazar Railway station at around 18.55 Hrs o­n 02.06.2023.

As per the information received till now, there are 288 casualties. 56 passengers have suffered grievous injury and 747 passengers were minorly injured.

Hon’ble Prime Minister visited the derailment site and inspected the restoration work. Later, he visited the injured passengers at Balasore Hospital and enquired about their treatment. Hon’ble Minister for Railways is continuously monitoring the restoration work.

SER has run o­ne Special train from Howrah to Balasore at 16.00 hrs today to carry the relatives of the affected passengers.

Railway is taking every initiative to complete the restoration work. Meanwhile, a High level inquiry has been ordered into the accident which is to be conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Eastern Circle.
