SER ORGANISES SEMINAR o­n “RAILWAY HERITAGE AND CLIMATE CHANGE”

 

Kolkata, 20th April, 2022 :

South Eastern Railway organised a Seminar o­n the theme, “Railway Heritage and Climate Change” at its Headquarters, Garden Reach today as a part of week-long celebration of World Heritage Day-2022.Sri Soumitra Pal, retired Judge of Kolkata High Court and Sri Sanjoy Mookerjee, retired Financial Commissioner, Railway Board were the guest speakers at the Seminar. Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, S E Railway, Sri Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager and other senior officers of SER were also present o­n the occasion.

 

Speaking o­n the occasion, Sri Soumitra Pal, retired Judge of Kolkata High Court mentioned about the importance of preserving our age-old heritage. He also thanked the Railway administration for its efforts to maintain its rich heritage for the future generations. Sri Sanjoy Mookerjee, retired Financial Commissioner, Railway Board mentioned about the guidelines and policies chalked out by Ministry of Railways to preserve the heritage and rich legacy of Indian Railways.

 

Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway welcomed the distinguished guests and spoke o­n the measures adopted by SER for preserving its glorious heritage and rich legacy in the form of buildings, bridges, stations, locomotives, rolling stock, artefacts etc. Stating that history and heritage are inseparable parts of any organisation, she mentioned about the necessity to create awareness about preserving the heritage structures. Speaking about the Heritage Sites of Indian Railways, General Manager appealed everyone to undertake the developmental works, protecting the heritage installations.

The officers from different Departments of South Eastern Railway while addressing the Seminar, mentioned about the Environmental friendly initiatives of SER and their impact o­n preserving Railway Heritage.

Sri Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager, South Eastern Railway conveyed vote of thanks.
