S E RAILWAY OBSERVES SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN o­n GANDHI JAYANTI

 

Kolkata, 2nd October 2021:

 

South Eastern Railway organized a massive Shramdaan & Cleanliness Drive at Howrah Station (New Complex) as well as at other important stations under SER jurisdiction this morning (02.10.2021) in commemoration of 152ndBirth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

 

The “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” at Howrah Station (New Complex) was conducted under the guidance of Shri Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager, South Eastern Railway. Sri Saibal Bose, Chief Environment Engineer, other senior officers and staff, members of SER Bharat Scouts & Guides, RPF Personnel etc. took part in the cleanliness drive and offered Shramdaan. A “Nukkad Natak” (Street Drama) was staged by the members of SER Bharat Scouts & Guides to create awareness about maintenance of cleanliness.

 

“Swachhta Pakhwara” organized by SER from 16th September, 2021 concluded today (2nd October, 2021). Different activities organized during the “Swachhta Pakhwara” included pledge taking ceremony, tree plantation, checking of purity of water at stations, awareness campaign, webinar, inauguration of effluent treatment plant etc.

 

As a part of Swachhta Pakhwara, competitions o­n drawing, essay writing and slogan writing were organized at SER Headquarters. Sudipta Chatopadhyay of Medical Department bagged the first prize in drawing competition while Sibnath Bandyopadhyay of Personnel Department secured the first position in essay competition. Avinash Kumar Das of Mechanical Department and M Srikant of Stores Department secured the first prize in English and Hindi Slogan Writing competition respectively.
