FIRST ELECTRIC TRAIN RUNS BETWEEN SHALIMAR AND BHANJPUR
Kolkata, 5thAugust, 2021:
South Eastern Railway has successfully completed electrification work in Rupsa - Bhanjpur secion (58Km.) of Kharagpur Division. This is a part of 89 Km long Rupsa-Bangriposi electrification project.
After successful completion of electrification work between Rupsa and Bhanjpur, the first Electric Loco hauled train ran in the section on 3rd August, 2021. Train No 08007 Shalimar-Bhanjpur Special which left Shalimar on 3rd August, 2021 was the first electric train to run in this section.
Completion of this electrification work will substantially reduce Diesel Fuel consumption, resulting in saving of railway revenue.It will also ensure better connectivity and punctuality in service by providing energy efficient and pollution free transportation.
