MEMBER OPERATIONS & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, RAILWAY BOARD VISITS SER HEADQUARTERS AND REVIEWS THE PERFORMANCE OF OPERATING AND COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENTS
Kolkata, 2nd July, 2021:
Sri Sanjay Kumar Mohanty, Member Operations & Business Development, Railway Board visited South Eastern Railway (SER) Headquarters, Garden Reach today (02/07/2021) and held high level meeting to review the performance of Operating and Commercial Departments of South Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway and South East Central Railway. Sri Satish P Dudhe, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, SER, Sri Prabhas Dansana, Principal Chief Operations Manager, SER and other senior Traffic Officers were present in the meeting held with South Eastern Railway.
Sri Mohanty reviewed the different aspects of railway operations and laid special emphasis on safety, punctuality, freight loading and earnings. He expressed satisfaction about the all round performance of SER and stressed on the timely completion of developmental works. Detailed discussions were held on achieving the freight loading target in 2021-22, increasing the maximum permissible speed of freight trains, completion of new line/doubling works, different traffic facility works etc.
Earlier, Sri Prabhas Dansana, Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Eastern Railway apprised Member, Operations & Business Development, Railway Board about the achievements and key activities of SER in the year 2020-21. In the last financial year i.e. 2020-21, SER loaded 175.8 million tonnes of freight which was the best ever loading performance of this railway since its trifurcation in 2003. This remarkable loading performance was achieved despite the pandemic situation which affected the loading performance in the first quarter of last financial year. In the current financial year, SER has loaded 48.28 million tonnes in the first quarter, an incremental growth of 16.94 million tonnes.Sri Dansana also stated that SER is taking all possible steps to achieve the freight loading target of 205 million tonnes fixed by Railway Board for the current financial year i.e. 2021-22.
Sri Sanjay Kumar Mohanty, Member Operations & Business Development also held meetings with Eastern and South East Central Railway at SER Headquarters today to review the performance of respective zones. Sri U K Bal, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Eastern Railway, Sri Soumitra Majumder, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Eastern Railway and Sri Chhatrasal Singh, Principal Chief Operations Manager, South East Central Railway and other senior officers were present.
