SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY REGISTERED A GROWTH OF MORE THAN75 % IN ORIGINATINGREVENUE AND CONTINUES TO MAINTAIN HIGH MOMENTUM IN FREIGHT LOADING IN MAY 2021

 

Kolkata, 2nd June, 2021:

 

South Eastern Railway’s revnue generation from originating freight loading in May, 2021 of the current financial year (2021-22) has been Rs. 1380.32 crores as against Rs. 785.27 crores in the month of May in 2020, registering a growth of 75.78%.

In the month of May, 2021 SER has loaded 16.18 million tonnes of freight as against 10.00 million tonnes loaded in May, 2020 registering a growth of 6.18 %.

 

During the first two months i.e April 2021 and May 2021 of current financial year (2021-22), SER has loaded 32.13 million tonnes of freight as against 18.65 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last financial year recording a jump of 72.28%.

In generating originating revenue, there is also of rise of 84.20 % in relation to first two months of the last fiscal.During April and May 2021 the revenue generation o­n originating freight loading was Rs 2669.69 Cr against 1449.33 Cr in same period of the previous year.

 

During the month of April and May 2021, remarkable loading has been witnessed in Cement and Coal which is 160.47 % and 104.14 % more in comparison to same months of the previous fiscal respectively. There are also noticeable growths in transporting in Finished Steel and Iron Ore amongst the regular commodities.

 

In spite of Covid situation, SER has continued with the freight transportation to keep the supply chain steady in every sector to fulfil the demand. The main commodities of freight loading of SER were Iron Ore, Coal, Pig Iron & Finished Steel, Cement, Food Grains and Fertilizer etc.
