FIRST OXYGEN EXPRESS TRAIN ORIGINATES
FROM TATANAGAR FOR BENGALURU
Kolkata, 10th May, 2021.
South Eastern Railway has successfully sent the first Oxygen Express Train from Tatanagar towards Bengaluru (Karnataka). The train left Tatanagar early morning today (10.05.21). This train carried 120 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) in six 20 ft containers. Due to sharp surge in Covid-19 cases, the transportation of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) has become a crucial issue and South Eastern Railway took the movement of Oxygen Express as a challenge from 23rd of the last month for different destinations.
So far, South Eastern Railway has run 38 Oxygen Express Trains with 2123 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen across the country to combat the deadly second wave of corona virus. From SER’s jurisdiction, 21 trains have been sent towards Uttar Pradesh, 9 trains towards Madhya Pradesh, 4 trains towards Haryana, 3 towards Delhi and 1 towards Karnataka. These trains have originated from Bokaro, Rourkela and Tatanagar.
With a team of dedicated staff and officers, SER is ensuring timely transportation of Oxygen for the Covid affected patients at the destinations. The movement of these trains are given hot priority and clear passage is being planned before hand.
