SER SAVED RS 1.22 CRORES THROUGH ENERGY CONSERVATION

Kolkata, 14th December, 2020:

The National Energy Conservation Week has been observed in South Eastern Railway Headquarters and its four Divisions viz. Kharagpur, Adra Ranchi and Chakradharpur from 8th December to 14thDecember, 2020. This has been observed to make the Railway men aware of the importance of Energy Conservation.

This approach of energy conservation, LEDification of all railway stations, service buildings, quarters, street light in railway areas etc. have been made to reduce power consumption. As a result of the Energy Conservation Drive, South Eastern Railway during the current financial year upto November, 2020 has saved a total amount of Rs. 1.22 crores in comparison to the corresponding period of last financial year.

To make this programme effective, banners and posters have been put up at railway premises to aware about the necessity of electric consumption. Seminars and counselling have been made at railway colonies to make people conversant with various ways and means of energy saving. Special focus was given to save energy in domestic appliances i.e. use of LED Bulb of 5, 7 & 9 Watt as per location in place of incandescent lamp or CFL, use of LED Tube light of 18 watt in place of 40 watt, use of five star rated curling fan, refrigerator, LED TV, geyser, Inverter, AC etc. Energy efficient micro oven and induction oven have been suggested to the colony people.

The total programme has been initiated by the Electrical Department under able guidance of Shri Rahul Gautam, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer. The whole programme was organised maintaining Covid-19 health protocols.
