SER STARTS “SWACHHTA PAKHWARA” ALL OVER ITS JURISDICTION
Kolkata, 16th September, 2020:
South Eastern Railway is observing Swachhta Pakhwara (fortnight) at its headquarters and all over its four Divisions i.e. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi and other units with full zeal from 16th September. This Pakhwara will continue up to 30th September, 2020. Swachhta Pledge was administered to all Railway Officers and Staff as well as Safaiwalas at their respective offices by maintaining health precautions and social distancing. Staff and Officers of SER, passengers and rail users were encouraged to desist from open defecation as well as use of plastic bag in areas approaching stations, trains, on tracks, in yards or at home etc.
A review of Swachhta Pakhwara activities for remaining period has been taken priority. This is not only involvement of employees and their family members but also to bring about behavioural and attitudinal change of passengers and rail users through innovative activities so that the ultimate goal of Swachh Rail- Swachh Bharat vision could be achieved and sustained. Swachhta Pakhwara is being organised for creating awareness through various activities like undertaking cleaning of office premises, toilets and wash rooms by providing dustbins in all railway premises including stations, weeding out of old files & unserviceable articles, distribution ofin-house face masks, sanitizer, liquid soaps and other safety related products, sorting of garbage in bio-degradable and non- degradable category, reusing and recycling of garbage and plastic, rain water harvesting, reduce air and water pollution, seminar and symposium through Video link etc.
Eminent sports persons, social activists, Trade & Businessmen, NGOs, welfare organisations, SER Bharat Scouts & Guides are being involved to make this Swachhta Pakhwada campaign successful.
