RAILWAY PROTECTION FORCE OF SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY PROVIDES FREE MEALS TO NEEDY PEOPLE DURING LOCKDOWNS

Railway Protection Force of South Eastern Railway has played a major role during lockdowns in the wake of COVID-19 in guarding railway property and vital installations. Despite shouldering the responsibility of the security of railways, South Eastern Railway RPF Personnel have provided free meals to the poor and needy people in the vicinity of this railway’s Headquarters and four Divisions viz Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi along with other units.
The global pandemic has created unprecedented situations and the worst hit is poor and destitute people. SER’s Security Personnel have distributed 1,02,856 free cooked meals to the needy and poor people adjacent to railway areas. Those who have been distributed with free meals are mainly daily wage earners, coolies, beggars, homeless people, rickshaw pullers etc. Out of total 1,02,856 cooked meals, RPF personnel of SER Headquarters, Garden Reach have distributed 1,506 meals while Security Personnel of Kharagpur Division have given 10,795 meals , Security Constables of Adra Divn have provided 45,733 meals, RPF of Chakradharpur have given 27,302 meals and RPF personnel of Ranchi Division have distributed 17,520 meals.
Security personnel of South Eastern Railway have worked tirelessly since the imposing of nation-wide lockdowns to provide free meals to the poor and needy people. Security personnel have provided cooked meals with paper plates and drinking water. Food distributions have also been done by Railway Protection Force even beyond the Railway vicinity to cater to the food requirements of the needy people in the hospitals and slum areas. In order to help as many people as possible, Security Personnel have made efforts to feed cooked meals to needy and poor people even from their own sources.
