IN HOUSE  PRODUCTION OF MASKS & SANITIZERS BY

S E RAILWAY TO PREVENT SPREADING OF COVID-19

Kolkata, 2nd April, 2020:

South Eastern Railway has decided to provide masks and hand sanitizers to all its employees especially the  frontline staff those who are engaged to ensure movement of essential commodities through freight trains as a part of pre-cautionary measure to prevent spreading of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

As per the advice of the General Manager, South Eastern Railway and under the guidance Medical Department, this railway has planned to produce masks and sanitizers in its own set-up. Accordingly, SER has directed all the four Divisional Headquarters, viz. Kharagpur, Adra, Ranchi, Chakradharpur and Kharagpur Workshop to produce masks and sanitizers.

As a result, all the Divisional Units and Kharagpur Workshop have geared up their machinery and have already produced 15,341 number of masks and 2,382 litres of sanitizer so far.  More masks and sanitizers are being produced at all the units on war footing so that all the employees can be provided with the same. These items have been produced purely in-house by SER. The employees who are engaged to ensure movement of essential commodities through freight trains are in urgent need of sanitizers and masks to keep their hands germ free and prevent spreading of any infection.

SER’s in-house production will not only ensure timely supply of the masks and sanitizers to the frontline staff but will also result in substantial cost savings.
