SER's FREIGHT MOVEMENT on TRACK ROUND THE CLOCK TO ENSURE TRANSPORTATION AND SUPPLY OF ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES
Kolkata, 27th March, 2020:
Inspite of countrywide lockdown and so many restrictions to prevent spread of COVID-19, South Eastern Railway has ensured the supply and transportation of essential commodities to different parts of the country by running goods trains round the clock. 74 rakes were loaded yesterday which include 15 rakes of coal as essential commodities and transported to different parts of the country. The main components of loading were petroleum, coal, iron ore, steel, cement etc. To keep the power generation houses operational during the lockdown, uninterrupted supply of coal to power houses are also being done by SER on priority. Today 4 rakes containing Salt, 2 coal rakes, 3 Petroleum rakes are under process of unloading in different stations of South Eastern Railway. Moreover, 140 rakes carrying essential and other commodities are to be moved today towards different destinations of the country. Officials engaged with Freight Operations and other concerned departments are working round the clock to keep the supply chain steady.
