SER MARCHING AHEAD OF RAILWAY BOARD’S
FREIGHT LOADING TARGET
Kolkata, 15th October, 2019:
South Eastern Railway is continuing to maintain its legacy in freight loading as before. During the first six months of the current financial year i.e. April-September of 2019-20, South Eastern Railway has loaded 82.09 million tonnes of freight as against 75.06 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 9.37%. SER has also surpassed Railway Board’s proportionate target for the period by 5.31% by loading 4.14 million tonnes more than the target.
As a result of this growth in freight loading, South Eastern Railway has earned Rs. 6911.45 crores from freight sector during April-September of current fiscal, which is Rs. 904.28 crores more than the corresponding period of last year, recording a growth of 15.05%.
The major components of freight loading during the above period were 45.95 million tonnes of Iron Ore, 17.27 million tonnes of Coal, 7.98 million tonnes of Pig-Iron & Finished Steel, 5.47 million tonnes of Cement etc. In the Iron Ore sector there is a growth of 16.27 % in comparison to same period (April to September) of last year.
