RECORDEARNINGS THROUGH SCRAP SALES BY S. E. RAILWAY

IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2019-20.

 

Kolkata, 4th October, 2019:

Making South Eastern Railway a “Scrap Free Railway” is o­ne of the Mission areas of the year 2019-20. To realise value from sale of unserviceable materials lying along Tracks, Workshops, Sheds, Coaching Depots etc., numerous inspections were done and co-ordination meetings were conducted by Senior Railway Officers to identify and dispose off all such items of Scrap.

Due to continuous monitoring, South Eastern Railway has achieved exemplary Scrap Sale record of ₹116.79 crores in the first six months (i.e. April-September) of 2019-20, which is ₹21.49 crores more than last year’s earnings during the same period. SER has also surpassed the proportionate half yearly Scrap Sale target of Rs 99 crores fixed by Railway Board by about 18%.

10298 MT of Engineering Scrap, 190 Nos. Condemned Wagons,110 Nos of Condemned Coaches,738 MT of Scrap Non-ferrous, 5823 MT of Ferrous Scrap and 1,64,497 Nos. of released PSC Sleepers have been disposed through E Auction by S E Railway during the year so far.
