SER SURPASSES RAILWAY BOARD’S FREIGHT LOADING TARGET
Kolkata, 5th September, 2019:
During the first five months of the current financial year i.e. April-August of 2019-20, South Eastern Railway has loaded 68.97 million tonnes of freight as against 62.41 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 10.51%. SER has also surpassed Railway Board’s proportionate target by 5.59% by loading 3.65 million tonnes more.
The major components of freight loading during the above period were 38.13 million tonnes of Iron Ore, 14.94 million tonnes of Coal, 6.70 million tonnes of Pig-Iron & Finished Steel, 4.59 million tonnes of Cement etc. In the Iron Ore sector there is a growth of 18% in comparison to same period (April to August) of last year.
As a result of this growth in freight loading, South Eastern Railway has earned Rs. 5890.03 crores from freight sector during April-August of current fiscal, which is Rs.825.96 crores more than the corresponding period of last year, recording a growth of 16.31%.
