SPECIAL DRIVES CONDUCTED BY S E RAILWAY AGAINST SELLING OF PACKAGED DRINKING WATER OTHER THAN “RAIL NEER”

South Eastern Railway is conducting intensive drives at railway stations against selling of packaged drinking water bottles other than “Rail Neer”, as per directives issued by the Railway Board. A Special Drive named “Operation Thirst ” has been launched by Railway Board from 8th to 9th July, 2019 to curb the menace of selling unauthorised packaged drinking water.
During the drive conducted by SER on 08-7-2019, total 82 persons were arrested with 4066 unauthorised water bottles other than “ Rail Neer ” and were prosecuted under Railways Act. During the second day of “Operation Thirst ” (09-7-2019), another 35 persons were arrested and 406 unauthorised water bottles were seized during the raids.
SER will continue to conduct such raids in future also to ensure safe and potable water for its valued passengers.
