GROWTH IN SER’s PASSENGER TRAFFIC

During the first nine months i.e. April-December of current financial year (2018-19), South Eastern Railway carried 200.81 million originating passengers as against 194.85 million originating passengers carried during the corresponding period of last financial year achieving a growth of 3.06%. Out of total 200.81 million originating passengers, 104.87 million were suburban passengers while 95.94 million were non-suburban passengers. The growth in number of passengers has been observed both in suburban and non-suburban segments.
This growth in number of passengers has resulted in increased earnings from passenger traffic during the first nine months of the current financial year. During April-December of the current financial year, South Eastern Railway has earned Rs. 1552.06 crores from originating passenger traffic which is Rs. 67.86 crores more than the corresponding period of last year i.e. 2017-18 thus registering a growth of about 4.57%.
