GENERAL MANAGER, SER VISITS SANTRAGACHI STATION AND GIVES INSTRUCTION FOR COMPLETION OF WORK OF NEW FOOT OVER BRIDGE WITHIN 31ST JANUARY, 2019

In view of the tragic incident at Santragachi station on 23rd October, 2018, South Eastern Railway has decided to take a number of measures to ensure safety of the passengers and to provide more amenities at the station.
Shri P.S.Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway visited Santragachi Station today (25.10.18) morning and directed the concerned departmental officials to complete the work of the additional Foot Over Bridge at Santragachi on a war footing. General Manager has fixed target date of 31st January, 2019 for completion of work of this new Foot Over Bridge which will be 12 metre wide and 161 metre in length.
Moreover, General Manager has directed to install CCTVs in the existing Foot Over Bridge before Diwali for better crowd management with a view to ensure safety of the passengers.
General Manager has also instructed for installation of new Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) at both the entry points of Santragachi Station to avoid queue. With a view to avoid overcrowding at Booking Counters, he has advised to open additional Counters immediately at the Booking Office at Kona Expressway end.
General Manager has also advised to deploy more Security Personnel (RPF) and Commercial staff at Santragachi Station during peak hours and rush period till the work of the additional Foot Over Bridge gets completed.
GM/SER has directed all the Divisional Railway Managers of S E Railway to take necessary measures to ensure safety and security of the passengers in their respective Divisions.
