GENERAL MANAGER INAUGURATES RENOVATED LIBRARY AT SER HEADQUARTERS
Kolkata, 19th. February, 2013;
Shri A.K.Verma, General Manager, South Eastern Railway inaugurated the
renovated Bankim Chandra Library at S.E.Railway Headquarters, Garden
Reach today (19/02/2013) in presence of Shri Pramod Kumar, Addl.
General Manager, Ms. Papiya Lahiri, Sr. Dy. General Manager and other
principal heads of S.E.Railway Headquarters. This is a comprehensive
library for the benefit of railwaymen of South Eastern Railway and
stocks books on all subjects ranging from fiction, non-fiction and
magazines. This library has been renovated and developed with modern
furniture to ensure proper display of books and to create space to
accommodate more books. Adequate seating arrangements have also been
made for the readers specially SER officers and staff. The library is
fully air conditioned and has been properly elevated.
There are presently 14,000 books on various subjects in English, Hindi
and Bengali languages. The books stored here are mainly on railway
policies and guidelines, management, computers, biographies,
encyclopedia, fiction, non fiction etc. The journals and magazines on
different subjects like railways, science, health care, sports,
amusement, home décor etc. are available in the library. To encourage
the lady employees, various journals and magazines on women are also
available in the library. Recent publications on different subjects
are procured online as well as from the market.
