GENERAL MANAGER/SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY HOLDS
STRATEGY PLANNING MEETING

General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Shri A.K.Verma held a day long Strategy Planning Meeting today(18.2.13) at the SER Headquarters at Garden Reach, Kolkata.The meeting was held to review the performance of the railway upto January 2013 and the steps to be taken to achieve the targets in the last two months of the current financial year 2012-13.The meeting was attended by General Manager, Addl.General Manager, Shri Pramod Kumar, all the four Divisional Railway Managers(Shri R.K.Kulshreshtha from Kharagpur, Shri G.Mallya from Ranchi, Shri Arvind Mital from Adra and Shri Rajiv Agarwal from Chakradharpur) ofSouth Eastern Railway and all the Principal Head of the Departments of SER.
General Manager in his address gave top most priority on safety and reviewed the four accidents which have occurred in the current year till now.He said that the elimination of the level crossings should be a priority item through construction of Limited Height Subways(LHS), diversions and closure of Level Crossing Gates.He also focused on the cleanliness on trains and in stations and said that South Eastern Railway should bring in more mechanization in cleaning of trains and stations.Passenger amenities, Passenger Information System at stations, Catering on trains and on platforms etc were also discussed.
Till January ’13, SER has achieved a freight loading of 103.21 million tons which is 5.5% more than last year.As far as freight earning is concerned, SER has earned Rs.540 crore more than last year.The total earning between April ’12 - January’13 has been Rs.7163 crore.As far as passengers are concerned, SER has carried 228.71 million passengers between April ’12 - January ’13 as compared to 217.82 million carried during the same period of 2011-12.As far as sale of scrap is concerned, SER has already sold scrap worth Rs.185.73 crore till January’13 which is more than Rs.179.76 crore which was achieved till January in 2011-12.
Other items like Punctuality of trains, passenger complaints, Action Plan for completion of ongoing works etc. were also discussed in detail.
