MASSIVE TICKET CHECKING DRIVE BY SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY
TO PREVENT TICKETLESS AND IRREGULAR PASSENGERS

Massive Ticket Checking drives have been conducted by South Eastern Railway in its entire network to prevent ticketless travel during the period from April to December of the current financial year (2017-18). As a result, a sum of Rs.26.48 Crores was realised towards fare and penalty from 5.42 lakh cases detected travelling without ticket or with improper ticket. In comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year, the amount realised from ticketless travellers has increased by 18.6%.
This apart, 5.55 lakh unbooked luggage cases were also detected during April to December of the current financial year from which an amount of Rs 3.51 crores was collected, which is an increase of 10.7% in comparison to the corresponding period of last financial year.
