SANCTION OF WORK FOR TWO NEW RAILWAY PROJECTS

OF SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

Kolkata, 3rd July, 2025:

 

Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the work for two new Railway projects of South Eastern Railway.

 

·3rd line between Nimpura Reception Yard and Kharagpur Junction:

 

This 3rd line project of 6.41 Km will be constructed at a cost of Rs 157.86 crores. Kharagpur-Nimpura Reception Yard is situated o­n Howrah-Mumbai & Howrah-Chennai high density network route.

 

With completion of 3rd line between Nimpura Reception Yard and Kharagpur Junction, the total Adityapur-Kharagpur 3rd line project will be completed. This will reduce the detention of goods trains coming from Gokulpur & Adra and speed up the goods traffic.

 

·Kalaikunda-Nimpura West Outer-Gokulpur connectivity (avoiding Nimpura Reception Yard):

 

This new line project of 12.33 Km will be constructed at a cost of Rs 224.44 crores. The proposed project is in the vicinity of Kharagpur station which is an important station situated o­n Howrah-Mumbai & Howrah-Chennai high density network route.

 

With completion of this connectivity between Kalaikunda-Nimpura West Outer-Gokulpur, the current capacity of the section will increase and thereby it will ensure seamless movement of trains.
