SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY CELEBRATES
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

South Eastern Railway celebrated World Environment Day at its Headquarters, Garden Reach on 05.06.2025. To commemorate World Environment Day, a Plastic-free Campaign is being organized from 22nd May to 5th June, 2025. The campaign aims to promote this year's theme of "Beat Plastic Pollution", highlighting the importance of reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable practices.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway,planted saplings at North Colony Garden Reach. He also led a Walkathon organized at Garden Reach. Shri Soumitra Majumdar, Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs), other Officers & Staff, Scouts & Guides and Sports personnel also took part in the Walkathon to promote awareness about the importance of reducing plastic pollution and adopting sustainable practices.
The General Manager emphasized on the importance of individual actions in reducing plastic pollution and promoting a sustainable future. While addressing the gathering, he inspired the Officers & Staff to take individual initiatives and work towards a plastic-free South Eastern Railway. Nukkad Nataks were also staged by members of SER Bharat Scouts & Guides and Medical Department to create awareness on tree plantation, avoiding use of plastic and protection of the environment.
The campaign concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the Drawing and Essay competition, which were held as a part of the celebration of World Environment Day.
