SER’S INITIATIVE TO MAKE THE MAHA KUMBH GRAND AND DIVINE

Indian Railways has undertaken a massive logistic effort to ensure the smooth travel of millions of pilgrims attending Maha Kumbh.Indian Railways has provided several special trains from different cities for pilgrims during Maha Kumbh 2025.

South Eastern Railway is always ready to serve for convenience of passengers and also ran special trains for Mahakumbh Pilgrims. South Eastern Railway has run two pairs of Mahakumbh Special Trains from Ranchi, the Capital City of Jharkhand i.e Ranchi-Tundla-Ranchi Special. o­ne pair of Special train has also run between Tatanagar-Tundla-Tatanagar. This apart Special Trains have also run over SER jurisdiction i.e Titlagarh-Tundla-Titlagarh Special (six pairs), Bhubaneswar-Tundla-Bhubaneswar (six pairs), Puri-Tunda-Puri (three pairs), Tirupati-Banaras-Tirupati Special (four pairs), Narsapur-Banaras-Narsapur Special (two pairs). Moreover, sixteen pairs of Regular Trains are also running over SER jurisdiction with stoppage at Prayagraj. Pilgrims from Ranchi, Tatanagar, Bokaro, Rourkela, Purulia, Baleshwar, Kharagpur, Kolkata and other places have boarded from SER jurisdiction.

In order to facilitate the pilgrims, the railway has made special arrangements at major stations. Additional help desks, drinking water, cleanliness, first aid, and other necessary facilities have been provided at the stations to ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience.

Additionally, special teams of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), along with railway staff, Scouts and Guides, and Civil Defence volunteers, managed the crowd efficiently. CCTV surveillance was increased at major stations, and the patrolling system at stations and trains was strengthened.

The railway administration deployed extra staff for the punctual operation of special trains, ensuring passengers faced no inconvenience. Special attention was also given to catering services, and quality food was provided through authorized vendors.

Miking through Public Address System was arranged to sensitize the passengers not to assemble un-necessarily at station premises and o­n platforms and also to follow safety protocols.
