INITIATIVES TAKEN BY RAILWAY PROTECTION FORCE OF SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

Kolkata, 2nd December, 2024

            Railway Protection Force of South Eastern Railway is playing a significant role in providing security of rail travellers as well as in guarding the railway property and its vital installations. In this regard, various initiatives like Operation “Nanhe Farishte”, “Operation “Dignity”, Mission “Jeevan Raksha”, Operation “Amanat”and Operation “Anti Human Trafficking  etc. drive have been taken by SER’s Railway Protection Force.

Operation “Dignity”-

This drive was initiated by RPF to rescue the adults including women in need of care and protection. 189 adults in 2023 and 154 adults in 2024 (up to October, 2024) including Men & Women were rescued by RPF/SER under this initiative.

Mission “Jeevan Raksha”-

Life of 54 passengers in 2023  and 39 passengers in 2024 (up to October, 2024) were saved by the RPF/SER without caring for  their own life.

Operation “Amanat”-

1935 numbers in 2023 and 1479 numbers in 2024 (up to October, 2024) of left behind luggage of passengers were  retrieved by RPF and handed over to its owners.

Mission “Yatri Suraksha”-

The drive with an objective of prevention and detection of passenger crime and emergency response under 139/RailMadad. 182 numbers of crimes registered were detected by RPF/SER with arrest of 217 criminals in 2023 and 177 numbers of crimes registered were detected by RPF/SER with arrest of 207 criminals in 2024 (up to October, 2024) under  mission “Yatri  Suraksha”. 

Operation “NARCOS”-

This drive is conducted  by RPF against narcotic smuggling. 127 criminals were arrested by RPF/SER with recovery of Narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances (NDPS) of Rs. 1.81 crores in 2023 and 128 criminals were arrested by RPF/SER with recovery of Narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances (NDPS) of Rs. 2.92 crores in 2024 (up to October, 2024).  

Drives under  Railway Act:-

Drives under Railway Act were also conducted to keep railway area free from antisocial elements. Total 42214 offenders were arrested &  prosecuted under various sections of Railway Act in 2023 and Total 54737 offenders were arrested &  prosecuted under various sections of Railway Act in 2024 (up to October, 2024).

Operation “Samay Palan”-

A drive with an objective of curbing Alarm Chain Pulling in trains for maintenance of punctuality in train running. 1665 persons in 2023 and 1744 persons in 2024 (up to October, 2024) have been arrested and prosecuted for unauthorised Alarm Chain Pulling under section 141 of Railway Act.

Operation “Jan Jagaran”-

Public awareness programmes are being conducted by RPF at stations, slums area near by railway stations, villages, schools, colleges, LC gates etc. over South Eastern Railway to educate rail users regarding safety and security issues i.e. precautions to be taken while crossing LC gates, drugging, not to carry inflammable materials, human trafficking, stone pelting etc.
