SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY OBSERVES “SWACHHATA HI SEWA” AND ‘SWACHHTA PAKHWARA

Kolkata, 16th October, 2024

South Eastern Railway observed “ Swachhata Hi Sewa” & ‘Swachhta Pakhwara’ across its entire network from 17th September 2024 to 2nd October 2024 and 1st October 2024 to 15th October 2024 respectively.

The Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign commenced o­n 17th September 2024 with the administration of Swachhta pledge to Railway personnel. During Swachhata Hi Sewa, a total of 2260 events were created o­n the given themes of “Swachhata Ki Bhagidaari”, “Sampoorna Swachhta” & “Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir”. Afterwards, as part of such events Shram-daans, Awareness programmes, walkathons, Webinar, Tree plantation as part of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, drawing competition, nukkad nataks by Bharat Scout & Guide were organized, Mass scale cleanliness drives were organized in Railway Offices, Training Institutes, and Residential areas. Single window camps for health & welfare were organized for contractual workers directly related to cleaning and Masks, Sanitizer, gloves etc. were distributed. Public awareness in digital mode, disseminating information for better hygiene were also arranged. The programme came to a befitting conclusion o­n 2nd October 2024 o­n the eve of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, by organizing different activities throughout SER zone, from shramdaan at GRC by AGM/ SER to tree plantation & Nukkad natak for swachhata awareness in all the divisions and workshop.

The Swachhata Pakhwara commenced o­n 1st October 2024. Afterwards, each date of the ‘Pakhwara’ was associated with particular activities pertaining to Swachhta. Divisions, Workshops, Coaching Depots, Loco sheds and Head Quarter organised Webinar, VC, Distribution of Masks, Sanitizer, gloves etc., tree plantation, drawing competition, o­nline essay competition, o­nline Photography competition, Prabhat Ferry, nukkad nataks and intensive cleaning over stations, railway truck, railway colonies, office premises etc. This year the Swachhata Pakhwada programme got concluded o­n 15th of October 2024.
