1.ENHM ORGANIZATION AND ACTIVITY :
Hon’ble NGT in Original Application No. 141/2014(in the matter of Saloni Singh & Anr. Vs
UoI & Ors) had directed Railways to submit action plan covering the following aspects:
(a)Management of solid waste
(b)Littering of Solid waste and plastic waste
(c)Prevention of open defecation on track
(d)Removal of encroachment
Twenty four verifiable indicators have been suggested by RB. Accordingly, action taken report is being sent to Rly. Bd. Monthly for periodical compilation as desired by NGT from Zonal Railways. Initially 5 % of the major stations of IR i.e. 36 stations had been identified as ‘eco smart stations’. DIGHA & RANCHI were identified from SER. Later on 720 major stations of IR were identified, out of which 21 belongs to SER.NGT passed the order on 18/08/2020 to apply for requisite consent/authorizations for all 720 stations from respective SPCBs. Green Co. Certification |
•08 stations (BLS, KGP, PRR, BQA, TATA, ROU, RNC & HTE – 2 stations each from KGP, ADA, CKP & RNC divisions respectively) have been nominated for Green Certification and proposed to Central Railway (Nodal Railway for floating/ finalizing tender for green certification) for further action. •KGP Division has proposed one ERW for rest of eight NGT nominated stations’ Green Certification via IGBC for 51.92 lakhs •AT present KGP Supervisors’ Training Centre & KGP Workshop has attained Gold & Silver rated Green Certification from IGBC respectively. |

Effluent Treatment Plant /Sewage Treatment Plant /Water Recycling Plant for mitigation of environmental impact under Water Act. |
•Total 18 Plants Installed under ERW at 13 locations i.e. ADA-02, BKSC,CKP, ROU, JSG, DGHA, RNC-02, BQA, HTE-02 & SRC-02, SHM, BLS-02 & GRC to comply NGT’s order. •7 under construction- TATA, KGP, BKSC, PRR, ADRA, KGPW (02 No) |

Plastic Waste Control |
•60 Plastic Bottle Crushing Machine (PBCM) already installed in 17 NGT nominated stations (KGP, BLS, SRC, SHM, DGHA, MCA, BZN, JGM, PKU, MDN, HTE, RNC, CKP, TATA, ROU, JSG & BKSC). •PBCM for remaining 04 NGT nominated stations (ADA, BQA, VSU & PRR) are under process. |

Composting plant under Waste Management (Material recovery). |
•Composting plant have been installed at 19 stations - RNC, HTE, CKP, TATA, ROU, JSG, KGP, BLS, JGM, MDN, MCA, SRC, BZN, PKU, ADA, PRR, BQA, VSU, & BKSC. |

Twin-bin dustbins for segregation of waster under Solid Waste Management. |
•699 sets of twin-bin/ triple bin dustbins were provided NGT nominated stations. |

Cleaning contract (including Rag picking). |
•Cleaning contract in 6 Stations (RNC, HTE, KGP, BLS, SRC & SHM) are beingexecuted by EnHM wing of the Divisions •Cleaning contract of HTE, RNC, SHM, SRC, BLS have been converted in to outcome basis contract in as per directives of Railway Board |

Conversion existing toilet into Bio toilets at NGT nominated stations. |
•Existing conventional toilets have been converted into Eco-friendly aerobic Bio toilets or new Bio-toilets provided in 19 stations – DGHA, JGM, MDN, MCA, BZN, PKU, SHM, SRC, KGP, BLS, TATA, CKP, ROU, JSG, BQA, VSU, ADA, RNC & HTE. |

Stations having CCTV cameras for monitoring Mechanized cleaning |
•Provided 1187 CCTVs in 20 NGT nominated stations. •Installation of CCTV is under progress at VSU CCTV to be installed from ISS (Integrated Security system) funds. |

Tree Plantation |
•A total of 3.45 lakh trees are planted till date throughout SER in FY 23-24. |

Formation of EnHM wing at Divisional level |
•Sr. DME (EnHM) and DME/ EnHMs are posted at KGP , ADRA, CKP, RNC respectively and staff are yet to be deputed for separate EnHM wing at Division. |
