ZRTI/SINI is under the direct administrative control of Chief Transportation Planning Manager, South Eastern Railway. The institution provides basic and specialized training to the staff of three Zonal Railways viz., SER, SECR & ECoR. Staff of PSUs and other big Private Organizations in the field of railway operations & falling within the jurisdiction of these three railway zones are also imparted training here. The institute has facilities like Sports Ground, Volley Ball Court, Basket Ball Court, Badminton Court, and Recreation Hall for Indoor games & a small Gymnasium with required equipments and Amenities, one Auditorium with Seating Capacity of 220, Library with a collection of 8941 Books are available.
Extracurricular activities are indispensable part of training programme. Games, Shramdaan, Cultural events, Debates, Tech.-Quiz, Discussions and Seminars are organized on regular basis as essential part of the training to make the trainees knowledgeable, healthy and socially conscious.
