BRIEF
Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE) is the Administrative Head of the Electrical Department, with overall responsibility for efficient working of the department. PCEE also functions as Electrical Inspector to the Government (EIG) as defined in The Indian Electricity Act, 2003, in respect of all high voltage electrical installations and equipments owned by the Railways.
PCEE is assisted by Chief Electric Locomotive Engineer (CELE), Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer (CEDE), Chief Electrical General Engineer (CEGE), Chief Motive Power Engineer (CMPE) respectively in the Head Quarter. In Divisions, PCEE is assisted by Sr.DEEs & Sr.DMEs for efficient functioning of Electric and Diesel rolling stock, traction distribution and electrical general services under his direct administrative control.
Electrical department is responsible for safe operation & maintenance of the following major assets:
v25 KV OHE including 220/132KV/25 KV High Voltage Traction Sub-station.
vElectric and Diesel Locomotives.
vGeneral Service’s installation in the Railway areas including LT power supply network for stations, yards and other Railway units.
S.E.Railway consists of ~2753 RKM on BG route in four divisions, namely, Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi. South Eastern Railway is now 100% electrified railway. The proportion of freight traffic hauled on electric traction is ~ 98.01%.
