ELECTRIC LOCO POH SHOP
BRIEF HISTORY - Formerly known as Erecting Shop, switched over its activity from overhauling of steam loco to Electric loco POH Shop in the year 1986. Initially this POH shop was planned for overhauling of 3 electric locomotives per month. Since 1992-93, POH outturn target was stepped up from 3 to 4 locos per month and further to 5 locos per month. Currently shop has capacity of 7 locos per month after introduction of incentive scheme in Nov 2020.
- After establishing the facilities for the POH activities, this shop extended its activities towards undertaking additional work load of Full and Partial Re – Cabling and Accident repair works. This organization has achieved success in incorporating up-gradation of Microprocessor Controlled Unit, Vigilance Control Device, Static Inverter, Roof Mounted DBR, Crew Friendly Cab, TAO-CHI Conversion, Upgraded Reverser & CTF, implementation of RDSO’s latest modification etc.
- ERS-POH has started POH activities for three phase locomotive since march’2019 and have successfully carried out overhauling for 10 no. of three phase locomotive till date.
ACTIVITIES 1. The erstwhile Steam Loco Shop has been converted to suit the activities of Electrical Locos and accordingly Shop-No12 of ERS-POH/KGP has started POH of Electric Locomotives since 1985 to cater the requirement of Electric Locomotives of S.E.Rly. Subsequently after gaining experience, POH capacity was increased to 3 Locos per month. At present the Shop capacity is enhanced to 5 Locos per month. 2. Earlier ERS-POH carried out POH of WAM4, WAG5 &WAG7 Class of Locos, from the year 2007-08,POH of WAP4 Locos have also undertaken. 3. POH of 3 phase locomotives have been started from the year 2019.
