SER ORGANISES CEMENT INDUSTRY DELEGATE MEET
AS A PART OF ITS FREIGHT BUSINESS INITIATIVE -TARGET

As a part of its Freight Business Initiative – “TARGET”, South Eastern Railway organized an Interactive Seminar andDelegate Meet of Cement Industry at its headquarters, Garden Reach today (20.8.15). South Eastern Railway is organizing seminars and meetings with representatives of different industries to explore the possibilities of increasing railway’s originating freight loading by removing different bottlenecks faced by its freight customers. The first meeting was held on 12th August with representatives from Steel Industry while the second meeting was held yesterday with delegates from Iron Ore industry.
Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager S.E.Railway while welcoming the delegates of Cement Industry detailed about the capacity augmentation works undertaken by this railway for faster movement of freight trains considering the benefit of its freight customers. He said that all necessary steps would be taken for timely availability of rakes and stressed to minimize detention of rakes at loading and unloading points for the common interest. He also emphasized to extend all sorts of cooperation from every level of the Railway which will help to meet the commitments of both Railway and the Industry.
Shri Ambrish Kumar Gupta, Chief Operations Manager, S E Railway in his address said that this Seminar is arranged to fulfill the logical requirements of the industries in rail dispatch part to increase the business of both the sides. Shri Gupta assured them about extending of all sorts of co-operation from the railway side to enhance their business. He said that in 2013-14 this railway loaded 8.64 million tones of cement and this year the target is 8.75 million tones as fixed by Railway Board. It has also been mentioned that in the first four months of this fiscal this railway has loaded 2.84 MT keeping much scope for improvement.
Earlier, Shri P. Dansana, Chief Freight Transportation Manager, S E Railway described the utility of e-ACT, e-Registration and about the Empty flow rebate arranged by Indian Railway for the valued customer. He requested to increase rail-coefficient and to speed up loading and unloading time to ensure timely availability of rakes.
The seminar was attended by representatives from ACC Ltd, Lafarge Cement, Ambuja Cement, Ultra Tech Cement, OCL India Ltd, Dalmia Cement etc. The delegates from cement industry appreciated SER’s initiatives for arranging such type of meet and thanked the Railway Administration for giving an open platform to express their views on different aspects and assured to work together for mutual growth. The representatives expressed their concern about sluggish demand in the market due to monsoon and assured that after the season the market will rise to the expectation.
