Kolkata, 15thJuly, 2015 :

National Plastic Surgery Day was observed at S E Railway Central Hospital, Garden Reach, this morning (15.07.2015).

Smt. Vinay Kumari, President, South Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organization(SERWWO) graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Prof. Siti Roy Choudhury, Ex.President, Association of Plastic Surgeons of India was present as Guest of Honour. Dr.Anjana Malhotra, eminent Plastic Surgeon, SERailway Medical Department, Senior Plastic Surgeons of West Bengal, Doctors, Nurses and other officials of S E Railway attended the programme.

The main objective of organizing this National Plastic Surgery Day is to make aware the community about the contribution of this speciality.Much of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery is aimed at providing functional restoration of the actual form and bring backthe patients to the main stream with confidence.

Dr.S.S.Chatterjee, President, Association of Plastic Surgeons, West Bengal, elaboratedvarious methods of reconstruction of damaged human bodies caused by different diseases and congenial defects. The plastic surgeon can o­nly reconstruct the parts of body to regain the normal shape restoring the cosmetic beauty.Dr.Anjana Malhotra, the eminent Plastic Surgeon of S E Railway Medical Department said that all parts of the human body may be reconstructed and shaped to good appearance.Dr.Malhotra informed that S E Railway Central Hospital has undertaken all sorts of plastic surgery and take special programme of cleft lip and palate surgery of babies and upper age wards of railway employees and the districts of West Bengal. Dr.Malhotra also said that Plastic Surgery is not just about enhancing a person’s look but encompasses a wide variety of surgical procedures. Dr.Malhotra spreads the message that it is affordable in comparison with other surgery.Power Point presentations were made by Dr.Prabir Josh, Plastic Surgeon and Head of Department, Kolkata Medical College and Dr.Prof. Goutam Biswas, Tata Cancer Hospital.
