GM/SER INAUGURATES THE 63RD ALL INDIA RAILWAYS TABLE TENNIS(MEN & WOMEN) CHAMPIONSHIPS AT KOLKATA
Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager, South Eastern Railway and Chief Patron, SERSA inaugurated the 63rd All India Railways Table Tennis (Men & Women) Championships being held at BNR Officers’ Club, South Eastern Railway, Garden Reach, this morning (08.07.2015).
Shri D.Kamilla, Addl.General Manager, S.E.Railway, Shri Manoj Pande, Chief Personnel Officer & President, SERSA, Smt.Tanuja Thakur Khalkho, Dy.CAO(G) & General Secretary, SERSA and other Principal Head of the Departments were present in this Championship along with a large number of sports persons and officials.
The Tournament is being hosted by South Eastern Railway Sports Association and will be continuing uptill 12th July, 2015.As many as 14 teams from different Zonal Railways and Production Units are participating in the Men’s event while six teams of different Zonal Railways are participating in the Women’s event.About 120 players (90 men & 30 women) representing various Zonal Railways and Production Units will be seen in the action during the 5-day long event.
Some of the outstanding National and International TT players who will be playing during this meet include Anirban Nandy(SER), Soumyajit Sarkar(SER), Souvik Banerjee(ER), Prabhakaran(SR) amongst men and Anindita Chakraborty(SER), Takme Sarkar(NFR) and Shreya Ghosh(Metro Railway) amongst women.
Earlier, Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager, South Eastern Railway while inaugurating the Tournament, said that South Eastern Railway always promotes Sports and Games and appealed to the players of participating Zonal Railways and Production Units to show true spirit of sportsmanship during the tournament.
Women’s Team Event:(i) South Eastern Rly. beat Eastern Rly 3-1(ii)Western Rly beat Central Rly. 3-0
Men’s Team Event:(i) South Eastern Rly. beat South East Central Rly. 3-0 (ii) Southern Rly beat Integral Coach Factory(ICF) 3-0 and (iii) Western Rly beat North Central Rly. 3-0
