GM/SER INTERACTS WITH PASSENGERS DURING TRAIN JOURNEY AND INITIATES PROGRAMMES AT SANTRAGACHI

Kolkata, 26thMay, 2015:

Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager, S E Railway initiated Passenger & Customer Facilitation Fortnight (26th May to 9th June, 2015) and interactedwith passengers of a suburban train during his journey from Howrah to Santragachi at this morning (26/5/2015). The General Manager was accompanied by Ms Gouri Saxena, Chief Commercial Manager, Sri Goutam Banerjee, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur, some other senior officers of SE Railway and a host of print and electronic media persons. General Manager talked to the individual passenger at Howrah Station and in train and make them aware of SER’s continuous efforts to provide passenger facilities to large extent. Sri Radhey Shyam appraised that keeping in touch with passengers’ demands, passenger facility gadgets in trains and stations are being upgraded to have better infrastructural facilities amongst passengers and other rail users. General Manager while talking to the passengers mentioned about the continuous effort of SER to do its best and to serve the customers better. General Manager appealed to all esteemed passengers through this network to treat railways as their own. GM and DRM/Kharagpur also apprised the passengers about the sanctioning of fourth line between Santragachi and Tikiapara and mentioned that the service of SER will be substantially improved after commissioning of the said connectivity. General Manager further said to the passengers, “let us together make the train travel more efficient and comfortable”. Available passenger amenities, public address system for frequent announcement at stations, passenger information system in trains, cleanliness, services and punctuality were in conversations with the passengers.


A large number of passengers complemented this unique venture o­n the part of SER and appreciated that a visible achievements have been possible due to sustainable efforts and continuous guidance of SER team.

This apart, Shi Radhey Shyam, General Manager, SER took part in various activities at Santragachi Station to mark the Rail Yatra and Upbhokta Pakhwada. GM, SER flagged off S E Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides Rally to convey the messages of passenger awareness to the rail users while they are availing the rail facilities. A Health Camp was organized at Santragachi with expert doctors of SER Central Hospital for passengers and general public residing around Santragachi to build awareness o­n health issues. This Camp was inaugurated by the GM/SER. S E Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides, railway employees were deputed in this Passenger & Customer Facilitation Fortnight to build awareness amongst passengers at level crossing of Santragachi area. Sri Radhey Shyam, GM/SER planted saplings nearby the Loco Shed area to prevent pollution and advised the officers and staff to be keen in such greenery exercise to go o­n.

As a part of this drive, a Seminar o­n Rail Safety was also inaugurated by the General Manager, Sri Radhey Shyam where he gave paramount importance to rail safety. General Manager in the seminar said that railwaymen to be extremely serious in safety matters by following rules, imparting proper training and counseling by constant monitoring and inspection. SER also conducted road shows, displaying banners, posters regarding safety awareness and due facilities presented to the passengers.

These programmes were attended by Principal Head of concerned departments of Headquarters and Divisional Officers of South Eastern Railway.
