SER CARRIES 30,000 EXTRA PASSENGERS IN APRIL 2015

BY AUGMENTING POPULAR TRAINS

Kolkata, May 7, 2015 :

South Eastern Railway has been augmenting its popular trains on a daily basis following intensive day to day monitoring of wait listed passengers. In the month of April 2015, as many as 384 coaches of different types were added to various long distance popular trains to clear the summer rush.Almost 30,000 extra passengers were carried in April 2015 in these augmentated coaches in the reserved segment.

As a result of augmentation of popular trains to clear the extra rush of passengers, the total earnings of South Eastern Railway from PRS (Passenger Reservation System) during the month of April 2015 has been Rs.115.48 crores as against Rs.92.67 crores earned from PRS in April 2014 which is a growth of 24.61%.

A sum of Rs. 1.32 crores has been yielded from the extra coaches attached in different popular trains in the month of April 2015, resulting in a growth of 9.26 % as compared to the earnings of March 2015.
