S. E. RAILWAY LAUNCHES SPECIAL DRIVE TO CURB MALPRACTICES IN MASS CONTACT AREAS AND TO PROVIDE IMPROVED AMENITIES TO THE PASSENGERS.

Kolkata, 29th April, 2015

ShriRadhey Shyam, General Manager, SouthEastern Railway hasinstructed all the Divisional Railway Managers and Principal Head of Departments to launch two-month long special drives commencing from 30.04.2015 over S.E.Railway system in order to curb malpractices in mass contact areas and to provide improved amenities to the travelling passengers. The main objective of conducting such special drives is to ensure hassle –free and comfortable journey to the passengers with improved passenger amenities especially during this summer season.

As a part of special drive, regular checkswill be conducted at all the Reservation Offices to keep a close watch o­n sale of fake/forged tickets, resale/reuse of used tickets, refund of tickets etc. General Manager has asked the concerned officials to make necessary arrangements to stop booking of accommodation in unreserved coaches by anti-social elements. Surprise checks are to be organised in a regular measure in general coaches to detect fraudulent use of tickets and misuse of various quotas.He also asked to maintain proper manning of all reserved coaches and proper utilisation of vacant berths in case of non-turned up passengers, besides close vigil o­n the misuse of Passes, Warrants, Concessions etc.

GeneralManager has given special thrust o­n the cleanliness in trains, stations and other Railway premises. Accordingly, all the Divisional authorities have been asked to ensure maintaining of proper cleanliness in trains, station and other railway premises in their respective jurisdiction. Appropriate steps are to be taken for constant monitoring of the adequate lighting arrangement, proper functioning of all passenger amenities, proper working and upkeep of escalators, retiring rooms, waiting rooms in the stations, parking areas, apart from availability of adequate water o­n platforms and toilets. He has also asked the concerned officials to ensure safety and security of the passengers and luggage during their journey.

Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager has also instructed all the Divisional Railway Managers and Head of the Departments to conduct regular checks o­n asset failures so that train operations and punctuality are not affected.
