GENERAL MANAGER/SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY HOLDS

STRATEGY PLANNING MEETING

 

Kolkata, April 11, 2013:

General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Shri A.K.Verma held a day long Strategy Planning Meeting today (11.4.2013) at the SER Headquarters at Garden Reach, Kolkata.The meeting was attended by General Manager, all the four Divisional Railway Managers (Shri R.K.Kulshreshtha from Kharagpur, Shri G.Mallya from Ranchi, Shri Arvind Mital from Adra and Shri Rajiv Agarwal from Chakradharpur) of South Eastern Railway and all the Principal Head of the Departments of SER.

 

The meeting was held to review the performance of SER during 2012-13 and plan for the coming year i.e. 2013-14.At the outset, General Manager Shri A.K.Verma congratulated all the divisions of South Eastern Railway for the outstanding performance in 2012-13.

 

The General Manager mentioned that SER has loaded 124.60 million tons of freight in 2012-13 which is 7.59 million tons more than last year.As far as freight earnings are concerned SER has earned Rs.8683croreswhich is Rs.886 crore more than last year.The total surplus revenue generated (i.e. earning minus expenditure) in SER has been Rs.3834 crore which is the highest ever surplus after the reorganization of railways in 2003.

 

On the safety front, the General Manager mentioned that the rail fractures & weld failures have come down by 47% as compared to last year.He laid stress on reduction of accidents by providing more inputs and adherence to rules by staff.

 

The General Manager also gave top priority to cleanliness at stations, trains & railway premises, hygiene in pantry cars, improvement in catering services, providing better linen & bedrolls to the passengers and also other items related to passenger satisfaction.

 

It was decided that the anti-littering drive will continue all over SER and fines upto Rs.500 in accordance with the new provision in Railway Act will be realized from people who litter railway premises.

 

Other items like Punctuality of trains, elimination of unmanned level crossings, passenger complaints, Action Plan for completion of ongoing works etc. were also discussed in detail.
