SER EXTENDING FACILITIES FOR DIVYANG PASSENGERS

TO MORE STATIONS

Kolkata, 21st December, 2018:

South Eastern Railway is committed to provide improved facilities at stations for differently abled passengers (Divyangajan). Providing better amenities for passengers including physically challenged passengers have always been o­ne of the priorities of South Eastern Railway.

During the last four and half years, South Eastern Railway has taken different steps at its stations for improvement and augmentation of amenities for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). In order to provide better accessibility to disabled persons, Short Term and Long Term facilities are being provided at the stations of S E Railway.

Short Term facilities provided for Divyangjan:-

All such facilities for the Divyang Persons are available at the following stations of South Eastern Railway:-

Kharagpur, Shalimar, Digha, Adra, Bankura, Purulia, Bishnupur, Midnapur, Ranchi, Hatia, Tatanagar, Bokaro Steel City, Charadharpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda and Balasore.

Moreover, for the assistance of visually impaired travelers, Integrated Braille Signages i.e. Signages superimposed with Braille script are being provided in all newly manufactured coaches. SER plans to extend this facility to coaches of existing trains also in near future.

In addition to above, considering the footfall of passengers, basic amenities for Divyang persons are also available at other important stations. Considering the requirement for the Divyang, more facilities have been planned and are under construction in various stations.
